Startup School 2026 Lesson 1 by Y Combinator
Waymo CEO ones.
AI. He made something where AI lives in the physical world or real world, rather than the AI world.
They have created an AI based self-driven vehicles in the Bay Area.
He structured the presentation in the seven lessons. What are those seven lessons are here:
1.
He played a short video (in the Waymo with his kids he took the video). Waymo driver handled things for the random surprises by the human drivers on the road. The kids doesn’t noticed that the Waymo handles these.

Silocion valley – move fast and break(ship safely) thinks
So the Silicon Valley motto is “Move Fast and Break Things.”
Minding the gap between building AI for the physical and digital worlds
- The cost-of-errors gap
- the cost of lives of people
- The latency gap
- here milliseconds really matter to avoid the acccident and all
- The data gap
- digital AI has the internet. for the phyusical ai there is nothing alternate as for the digital world.
- the validation gap
- Lesson 1 The demo is the first 1%, the nines are the product.
- Waymo. “capability complete” – 2009.
- Building the real product.
- Demo to real product.
- every nine takes the more 10 times more effort.
- 99.9999%
At this point it’s too boring. Not because of a lot of technicals. Because nobody is talking about the OPC and starting something on your own. Rather than these giant companies. Not relevant to a polymath like me.
